Bug #1858
openAppimage doesn't work on latest Linux Mint
0%
Description
Linux Mint 22.2, based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, does not work with the latest appimage file. Appimages were working just fine during summer, but today I upgraded to the latest one, and now I get this:
./Freeciv-gtk4-3.2.2-x86_64.AppImage: symbol lookup error: /tmp/.mount_FreeciNAaoCm/usr/bin/../lib/libharfbuzz-subset.so.0: undefined symbol: hb_free

Does nightly one from https://files.freeciv.org/nightly/S3_2/appimage/ work? They are currently (still) generated at Debian Trixie, while the release one was generated on Debian Testing(/Forky)

Yes, it does work! It might be an idea to switch back to Trixie, because there are so many people on Ubuntu LTS and derivatives (unless there's another way to fix it).

I believe this is bug in AppImage, not freeciv, and opened https://github.com/AppImageCommunity/pkg2appimage/issues/575
